The Lost Caverns of Ixaland releases on November 17th 2023. The set is focused around Dinosaur and Lands with some impactful additions and reprints. See all cards and prices at The Lost Caverns of Ixaland price list. Here are Teeg's top release day pickups:
1. Echoing Deeps - Chase Rare
A brand new addition to Magic: the Gathering is a land that taps for colorless mana, but also come intro play tapped as a copy of any land in a graveyard. Right now it can be picked up for $10 each. I see Echoing Deeps becoming a chase rare of the set due to the fact its never been printed before and its viability in every format, specifically in modern, commander, and legacy type formats.
Echoing Deeps a one-of print available in two forms, regular border and a unique Aztec style borderless art.
3. Cavern of Souls - Top Reprint
Cavern of Souls is a powerful reprint land that is used in every format, specically in tribal decks, which are very popular with collectors and players. Cavern of Souls was averaging $50 each prior to this reprint. This reprint of Cavern brings the total printings up from 9 to 11, and drop the price 40% (to $30) at prerelease. If you need a playset, now is the time to pick them up.
Cavern of Souls reprinted in two forms with new art. One most unique art is the Ixaland Aztec style art.
3. Kitesail Larcenist - Standard Pickup
Kitesail Larcenist is a new print blue creature with an enter the battle field affect that acts as removal. Its blue, has protection, has evasion (flying), and acts as removal in blue. I see this becoming a go-to card for blue in standard, possible addition in modern decks, but not powerful enough for other formats. I'd wait to pick this one up as it will drop in price as players start to open up packs. If you need it now, grab the normal border variant for half the price.
Kitesail Larcenist reprinted in two forms with a single new art.
4. Chimil, the Inner Sun - Commander Staple
Chimil, the Inner Sun is a new print artifact that makes sense to play in a lot of commander decks. Your spells can't be countered and at the end of your turn, play a free spell! It's hard to argue with its ability which is free permanents every turn and a blue counter shutdown. This is the only printing of this card, it's going to be hot.
Chimil, the Inner Sun reprinted in two forms with a single new art.
5. Notable Mentions
A few new printing of cards that have synergy potential with fun effects.
Overall, I really like this set, lots of graveyard abilities and new introduction of abilities and MTG lore. It's a breath of fresh air compared to all the crossovers that have been printed.
